Nason goal enough as Eagles nip Saint Joe’s

BANGOR – Erin Nason scored the game’s only goal 8:36 into the first half as Husson College edged Saint Joseph’s 1-0 in field hockey action Saturday.

Kelly Bocchino made six saves on 10 shots for the 6-2 Eagles.

Kathleen Simoes made seven saves on 12 shots for the 5-4 Monks.

Simmons 2, Thomas 1

At Boston, Natalie West scored on a penalty stroke with 1:46 left in regulation to lead Simmons College to victory over Thomas College of Waterville Saturday.

Kellie Martel scored 1:35 into the second half off assists from Alexis Evans and Alyssa Audie for 2-3 Thomas.

Boston College 5, Maine 0

At Newton, Mass., Bob Dirks scored two goals and provided an assist to lead Boston College past the University of Maine Sunday.

Caitlyn Buckanavage, Katie Quaglia and Caitlyn Young scored for 8-3 Boston College. Maygan Cassarino made six saves on 15 shots for the 4-7 Black Bears.

Colby 5, New England College 3

At Waterville Sunday, Amy Campbell and Mary Clare Snediker each scored two goals to lead the Colby White Mules by the Pilgrims.

Heather Quadir scored the other goal for the 1-5 Mules. Jamie Enos collected eight saves.

UM-Farmington 4, Becker 0

At Worcester, Mass., Andrea Tyler, Ashley Wentworth, Nicole Lyons and Alyssa St. Pierre each tallied a goal to lead the University of Maine-Farmington by Becker College.

Bethany Marshall grabbed two assists while Kaeleigh Barker made four saves on five shots for the 4-2 Beavers.

Ciara Lawrence made nine saves on 21 shots for the 1-9 Hawks.

Middlebury 2, Colby 1

At Middlebury, Vt., Marnie Rowe scored the game-winning goal with 25:46 remaining in the game to lift Middlebury past Colby.

Amy Campbell scored for Colby while Jamie Enos made eight saves for the 0-5 Mules.
