DOVER-FOXCROFT – A noncompetitive, 3-mile walk fundraiser is planned for Saturday, Oct. 6, to support the Heartwise cardiac rehabilitation program at Mayo Regional Hospital.

Registration for the 17th annual Heartwise Walk for Life will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Piscataquis Regional YMCA. The 10 a.m. walk will be on the streets of Dover-Foxcroft. All Heartwise walkers will receive a gift. Anyone raising $25 or more in pledges will also get a T-shirt.

The more than $13,000 raised from last year’s walk was used to purchase exercise equipment and provide scholarships for Heartwise patients. Heartwise provides a program of supervised exercise and educational group sessions for people with some type of heart or blood vessel disease.
