Brown’s goal lifts Coyotes by Red Riots

OLD TOWN – Allison Brown scored with 1:28 remaining to lift the Old Town Coyotes to a 1-0 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Orono Red Riots Tuesday.

Brown slammed a cross from Katie Deshane into the near corner of the net.

Annie Cashon had three saves on seven shots in earning the shutout for the 7-3 Coyotes, while Ruth Maher stopped one of six shots for 7-4 Orono.

JV: Old Town 2-1

East Grand 3, Highview Chr. 2

At Charleston, Sheena Roy scored the game-winning goal with 8:02 remaining in the game off a pass from Kelsey Dauost to lift East Grand of Danforth past Highview Christian.

Jackie Dodge and Dauost each added a goal for East Grand. Courtney Lloyd made four saves on six shots for the 2-8 Vikings.

Sheila Francis netted two goals in the second half for Highview. Elizabeth Hanson made 14 saves on 27 shots for the 0-9 Knights.

Bangor Chr. 9, DI-Stonington 1

At Bangor, Suze Van Dine and Katherine Bragg each netted three goals to spark Bangor Christian by Deer Isle-Stonington.

Kelly Robinson, Christin Pelletier and Verity Ramirez each added a goal for Bangor Christian. Moriah Bach and Brittney Palmer combined to make four saves on six shots for the 8-4 Patriots.

Holly Brewer scored the lone goal for Deer Isle-Stonington, while Britni Jones and Anika Powers combined to make 16 saves on 35 shots for the 4-7 Mariners.

Greenville 5, Calvary Chapel 0

At Greenville, five different players scored unassisted as the Lakers improved to 7-1-1.

McKenna Peat, Kaitlin Harmon, Addie Pelletier, Rebecca Martel and Alisha Gilbert all scored for Greenville, which led 3-0 at halftime.

Lauren Fling and Sidney Richardson combined for the shutout in goal, while Hannah Lacadie worked in goal for the 4-5-3 Sabers of Orrington.

Hampden 6, Brewer 0

At Hampden, Katie Foster netted three goals to power Hampden by Brewer.

Lyndsay Martin tallied a goal and two assists while Katie Chambers and Lauren Jadallah each added a goal for Hampden. Michelle Wells made two saves on four shots for the 7-3-1 Broncos.

Carolyn Tuck made eight saves on 29 shots for the 2-10 Witches.

JV: Hampden 4-1

Field hockey

Waterville 4, MCI 3 (2OT)

At Pittsfield, Chanelle Lansley slammed home a pass from Jen Joliceur on a breakaway with 6:55 left in the second overtime as Waterville escaped with the victory.

MCI’s Brianna Clement scored an unassisted goal with 2:18 left in the second half to send the match to overtime.

Joliceur added a goal earlier in the match while Grace Skocvenski tallied a goal and assist for the Purple Panthers (8-3). Renee Roberts notched a goal of her own, assisted by Skocvenski. Kristin Tormolla had eight saves on 11 shots.

Clement added an assist on a goal by Jessie Richardson and Bekah Kallgren added a goal for the Huskies, now 1-9-2. Taylor Michaud blocked nine of 13 shots.

Lewiston 2, Bangor 1

At Bangor, Sarah Clark scored an unassisted goal with about 25 minutes left in regulation to snap a 1-1 halftime tie and lead the Blue Devils to the win.

Chantal Wood put 3-7-1 Lewiston up 1-0 with an unassisted tally in the first half before Molleigh Mahaney tied it with an unassisted goal of her own for Bangor, also 3-7-1.

Emily Craig blocked nine out of 10 shots for the Devils, while the Rams’ Hilary Babin stopped four out of six.

JV: Bangor 2-0

Mount View 1, Nokomis 0

At Thorndike, Kristin Masessa scored the game winning goal in the first half off an assist from Tessa Mayberry to lift Mount View past Nokomis of Newport.

Lyndsey Cronin stopped all nine shots she faced for the 8-4 Mustangs.

Beth Flanders made five saves on six shots for the 6-6 Warriors.

JV: Nokomis 2-1

John Bapst 6, Old Town 2

At Bangor, Marianne Ferguson had four goals and assisted on another to lead John Bapst past Old Town.

Rebecca Odgen notched a goal and two assists while Shannon Falvey added a goal for the 2-9-1 Crusaders. Tori Huckestin and Victoria Borth contributed assists. Hillary Laferriere had 12 saves on 16 shots.

Molly Baillargeon and Sarah Wilcox scored unassisted goals for 4-8-1 Old Town. Danyle Bubar had seven saves on 14 shots.

JV: John Bapst 1-0

Lawrence 2, Brewer 0

At Brewer, goals by Nicole Guimond and Kayla Robinson helped Lawrence of Fairfield earn its fifth win of the season.

Guimond’s goal was unassisted, while Kristina Hebert and Brandy Armour had assists on Robinson’s goal.

Jordan Carter stopped the only shot she faced for 5-6 Lawrence.

Angela Patterson made 10 saves on 12 shots for 0-10-1 Brewer.

JV: Lawrence 1-0

Central 3, Piscataquis 1

At Corinth on Monday, Hilary Haney knocked in two goals while Rachel Trafton added another to spark Central to the win.

Taryn Pineo, Sam Morin and Roberta Trafton dished out assists for the 7-4 Red Devils. Alix Rudzinski had one save on three shots.

Alicia Quimby scored an unassisted goal for 0-11 Piscataquis of Guilford. Brianna Tweedie made eight saves on 15 shots.

Boys soccer

Highview Chr. 4, East Grand 3

At Charleston, Jumpu Morishita scored goals eight minutes apart in the second half to break a 2-2 tie and lead Highview Christian past East Grand of Danforth.

Thomas Fernandez (penalty kick) and Ben Le established a 2-0 lead in the first half before Harvey Brittain tied it with two goals later in the half.

Andrew Gilman scored with 5:46 left in regulation to make things interesting.

Le had an assist and Nathan Chandler made 11 saves on 20 shots for 2-5-1 Highview Christian.

Abe Brittain made 15 saves on 23 shots for 2-8 East Grand.

Ellsworth 3, John Bapst 1

At Bangor, Moritz Bahm, Adam Kupola and Zach Emeigh each scored an unassisted goal as Ellsworth defeated John Bapst.

Greg Berry stopped seven of nine shots for the 6-2-2 Eagles.

Jeff Sanford netted the goal for John Bapst while Ethan Cushman made 16 saves on 19 shots for the 5-5 Crusaders.

DI-Stonington 2, Bangor Chr. 2

At Deer Isle, Bangor Christian’s Brandon Wilcox knocked in an unassisted goal to tie the match at 2 with 3:41 remaining in regulation and it stayed that way through two overtimes.

Zach Kutz scored 8-1-2 Bangor Christian’s other goal on a penalty kick with 32 minutes left. Sam McLeod had four saves on six shots for the Patriots.

Collin Ciomei and Nathan Joyce netted a goal apiece for 4-3-2 Deer Isle-Stonington, while Jay Boyce assisted on Nathan Boyce’s goal. Joe Carter stopped 14 of 16 shots.

Penquis 3, Penobscot Valley 1

At Milo, Jerell Arefein dribbled past two defenders and tucked his low shot into the far corner to supply Penquis with an important insurance goal with 12 minutes remaining.

Brian Zwicker (penalty kick) and Ryan Bailey had the other goals for 4-6-1 Penquis, which avenged a season-opening 1-0 loss.

Jesse McLaughlin had an assist and Richie Russell made 11 saves on 16 shots for Penquis.

Ryan Scopino scored for 6-3-2 Penobscot Valley of Howland and Aaron Awalt and Jacob Jones combined for 14 saves.

Orono 2, Old Town 1

At Orono, Ian Staples scored four minutes into the game and Lee Hecker headed home his cross just 18 seconds later as Orono avenged a season-opening 4-2 loss.

Brandon Paul had an assist and Nate Peterson made four saves for 6-5 Orono.

Luke Bartlett converted a corner kick for 4-6 Old Town and Ethan Shanley made seven saves.

JV: Old Town 3-0

Dexter 7, Foxcroft Acad. 3

At Dexter, Rick Stewart tallied five goals to power Dexter by Foxcroft Academy.

Devin Grant added two goals while David Wilks had three assists and Ethan Woodman grabbed two. Chris Eastman made four saves on seven shots for the 9-0-2 Tigers.

Jordan Kim, Matt Anderson and Alex Francis each scored an unassisted goal for Foxcroft. Anderson and Alex Gray combined to make 11 saves on 22 shots for the 0-11 Ponies.

Bangor 6, Nokomis 0

At Bangor, Nick George knocked in three goals and assisted on another as undefeated Bangor improved to 11-0.

Devin Lincoln scored a pair of goals for the Rams while Pat Bolduc added a goal and assist. Mack Susi and Ryan Larochelle contributed assists while Erik Milles had four saves on six shots.

Mike Woodbury stopped six of 26 shots for 0-11-1 Nokomis of Newport.

JV: Bangor 5-0

Greenville 4, Calvary Chapel 2

At Bangor, Richie Chilson tallied two goals to propel Greenville past Calvary Chapel Christian of Orrington.

Tony DiAngelo added a goal while T.J. St. Louis grabbed two assists for Greenville. Tim Post made four saves on seven shots for the 5-3 Lakers.

Matt Goodness and Stephen Berenyi each netted a goal for Calvary Chapel. Devon Warman stopped 13 of 23 shots for the 3-6 Sabers.

Schenck 1, Piscataquis 0

At East Millinocket, Trevor Violette scored in the 35th minute of the second half to lift Schenck past Piscataquis of Guilford.

Joe Ruitto assisted on the goal for the 3-6-2 Wolverines. Lanny Thompson had 27 saves on 30 shots.

Corbin Shufelt stopped 15 of 19 shots for the 5-5-1 Pirates.

Ashland 3, Fort Fairfield 1

At Ashland, Tyler Cote scored two goals in the first half to lead Ashland past previously unbeaten Fort Fairfield.

The Hornets came into Tuesday’s action ranked No. 1 in the Heal Point standings while the Tigers were second.

Carl Nemer added an unassisted goal while Lucas Belanger made four saves on seven shots for the 10-1-1 Hornets.

Jordan McLaughlin netted a goal for Fort Fairfield while Austin Dufour stopped 12 of 16 shots for the 10-1-1 Tigers.

Caribou 3, Fort Kent 1

At Caribou, the Vikings scored three unanswered goals, one in the first half and two in the second after Fort Kent took a 1-0 lead early in the first.

Kyle Corrigan’s goal sent the match into halftime tied at 1, while Danny Rush and Jon Noyes punched in second-half goals for Caribou, now 10-2. All three goals were unassisted.

Corey Voisine put the Warriors (6-5) up 1-0 by knocking in a Zach Rioux pass.

Eric Brown had two saves on three shots for the Vikes while Matt Harvey stopped 17 of 30 for the Warriors.

JV: Caribou 2-0

Presque Isle 3, Bucksport 1

At Bucksport, Presque Isle rallied for three goals in the second half to break a 1-0 deficit and defeat Bucksport.

Gerard Desjardins netted two goals while Warren Zubrick had one for Presque Isle. Dillon Kingsbury made five saves on 12 shots for the 9-1-1 Wildcats.

Dom Kone scored in the first half for Bucksport off a pass from Jordan Trasko. Ross Bowden made 25 saves on 39 shots for the 1-9 Golden Bucks.
