Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. announced Friday that it has appointed a new president and chief operating officer and a new manager of field operations.

Robert J.S. Hanf is the new president and COO for Bangor Hydro. Rob Bennett remains the company’s CEO. Previously, Hanf provided legal counsel and regulatory services to Emera Inc. and its operating subsidiaries in Canada and the Northeast.

Before joining Emera in 2002, Hanf was a partner in the Calgary law firm of McCarthy Tetrault LLP, specializing in energy law.

“I plan to continue Bangor Hydro’s commitment to promoting economic growth,” said Hanf. “I look forward to working with new and existing business to find energy solutions that best fit their needs.”

Hanf is a graduate of Dalhousie University Law School in Halifax and holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown.

Hanf plans to reside in the Bangor area.

Kevin M. Kenny has been appointed Bangor Hydro’s new manager of field operations. Kenny will manage all field operations departments, including the line, electrical, facilities and fleet departments.

Kenny previously worked as vice president of North American operations at Cooper-Standard Automotive in Auburn Hills, Mich., where he was responsible for financial and operational performance of 17 manufacturing facilities.

He was also vice president of sales and engineering at MacLean Vehicle Systems in Rochester Hills, Mich., and vice president of operations and general manager with the North American components division at ZF Lemforder Corp. in Brewer, where he managed three manufacturing facilities.

“Returning here to Maine, having lived here previously for nearly 30 years, is certainly a homecoming experience,” said Kenny. “It’s very obvious to me that Bangor Hydro is a great company. Not unlike the automotive industry, our customers and employees have deservingly high expectations.”

Kenny earned a Bachelor of Science in business management from Husson College and is working toward his Master of Science in business management from Husson.

Kenny resides in Hampden with his wife, Vicki.
