SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield College racked up 354 rushing yards and scored six rushing touchdowns en route to a 42-28 football victory over the Husson College Eagles Saturday.
Quarterback Chris Sharpe paced Springfield College with 133 yards and two 2-yard TD runs.
Husson’s Julius Williams ran for 64 yards, including two 4-yard touchdown runs. Jonah Chappell completed 13 of 27 passing attempts for 243 yards, and ran for two touchdowns. Andre Wildman caught four passes for 71 yards. Ross Salovich led Husson with 12 tackles.

MMA 13, Worcester State 7
At Castine, Tyler Angell’s 1-yard touchdown run with 16 seconds left in the game lifted the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners to victory.
Maine Maritime forced five turnovers and held Worcester State to 53 rushing yards while Brandon Goodrich racked up 174 yards on 20 carries. He recorded a 72-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Travis Fergola had 12 tackles and Cody Andrews added 11.
Worcester State’s Pat Good threw for 131 yards, including a 19-yard TD pass.

At Middletown, Conn. Saturday, Colby’s Chris Bashaw racked up 182 yards of total offense, but couldn’t overcome the Cardinals.
Shea Dwyer scored on a 1-yard run with 5:39 left in the third quarter to put Wesleyan up for good. He rushed for 89 yards and a total of three touchdowns.
Bashaw rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns for the White Mules of Waterville. He also caught three passes for 85 yards. Patrick Burns completed 10 of 19 passes for 153 yards, 82 of which came on a touchdown pass to Besaw.

Thomas 2, UM-Presque Isle 0
At Presque Isle, Brittany Morin scored both goals to give Thomas College to the win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle Saturday.
Julie Nyitray assisted Morin’s first goal for 3-6 Thomas. Lindsay Thornton earned the shutout by blocking all nine shots.
Billie Martin made six saves on eight shots for 6-3-2 UM-Presque Isle.

At Boston, freshman Amy Sanz scored twice to lift Husson College of Bangor over Wheelock Saturday.
Katie Nickerson and Megan Clement each had a goal and two assists for the 7-5-1 Eagles. Megan LaJoie and Caitlyn Butterfield both had a goal and an assist. Jennifer Plourde stopped five of six shots.
Melinda Ortega turned away seven of 22 shots for 3-7 Wheelock.

At Boston, Katie Hutchinson scored a goal and assisted the other to lead Maine Maritime Academy of Castine to victory over Wheelock College Sunday.
Diana Manatt-Rogers scored at 51:56 in the second off of a Hutchinson cross for the 8-5 Mariners. Christina Best assisted Hutchin’s goal at 71:17. Lacey Jackson blocked two of three shots.
Melinda Ortega made nine saves on 15 shots for 3-8 Wheelock.
St. Joseph’s 3, Albertus Magnus 0
At New Haven, Conn., Mikayla Call had a goal and an assist to help push Saint Joseph’s College of Standish to victory over Albertus Magnus College Sunday.
Jessica Needham and Heather Stanger added goals for the 12-1 Monks. Jillian Leger assisted Call’s goal and Katye Mayo blocked both shots.
Bay Path 2, Maine Maritime 1
At Longmeadow, Mass., Tianna Carr and Victoria Malanowksi each scored a goal as Bay Path College edged Maine Maritime Academy.
Sam Gunseth made two saves for the 5-5-1 Wildcats.
Diana Manatt-Rogers scored for MMA while Lacey Jackson made two saves in goal for the 7-5 Lady Mariners.

At Gorham, Natasha Levandowski and Sarah Shortill each netted a goal in the second half as the University of Southern Maine defeated the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.
Mindy Morneault made three saves on six shots for the 6-5 Huskies.
Tanya Braga made six saves on 13 shots for the 4-6-2 Corsairs.

At Presque Isle, Brittany Morin scored for Thomas with 4:48 left in the first half and was credited with a goal on an own-goal by the University of Maine-Presque Isle to lead the Terriers to victory.
UM-Fort Kent sweeps
At Rutland and Randolph Center, Vt., Jodyann Blake scored four goals to help lift the University of Maine at Fort Kent over the College of Saint Joseph 13-1 Saturday. The Lady Bengals also beat Vermont Tech College 3-0 Sunday.
On Saturday, Liz Clavette had three goals and an assist for the Bengals. Emily Burnett added two goals and an assist as Brianne McGary and Maria Williams both had a goal and an assist. Shanae Armstrong had a goal and two assists and Nicole Nowakowski scored. Liz LaPlante made one save on four shots.
On Sunday, Blake and McGary each had a goal and an assist for 6-3-2 UM-Fort Kent. Shauna-Kay Spencer added a goal as LaPlante blocked two of five shots.
Husson 2, Bay Path 0
At Longmeadow, Mass., Megan Lajoie tallied a goal and an assist to lead Husson by Bay Path College.
Megan Clement added a goal while Laurie Melen grabbed an assist for Husson. Tatyana Wolterbeek did not have to make any saves for the 8-5-1 Eagles.
Sam Gunseth made 14 saves for 5-5-1 Bay Path.

Saint Joseph’s 4, Wheelock 1
At Standish Sunday, Maria Arsenault scored twice to help lead Saint Joseph’s past Wheelock.
Jessica Baker and Alyssa Dunn added goals for the 7-5 Monks. Kerrie Boutin and Kayla Nowell provided assists. Colleen Grant made no saves on one shot.
Husson 9, Wheelock 0
At Bangor Saturday, Erica Dorso recorded two goals and and assist as the Eagles rolled.
Sarah Hessert added two goals for the 8-3 Eagles. Krystal Doughty had a goal and three assists and Erin Nason had a goal and an assist. Shawna Bell, Lindsay Barnes and Skye Ellis added goals. Kelly Bocchino faced no shots.
UNH 2, UMaine 1 (2OT)
At Durham, N.H., Saturday, Sam Geary scored on a Kiera Williams corner in the second overtime to help the Wildcats tip the Black Bears.
Cally Cocke tied it at 1-1 on a penalty stroke at 87:12 in the second half for 7-6 UNH. Margaux Shute stopped six of 14 shots.
Jackie D’Amato scored on a Kristen Healy assist at 52:36 in the second half for 4-8 UMaine. Rebecca Giroux made 12 saves on 24 shots.
UM-Farmington 2, Lasell 0
At Farmington Sunday, Kristin Chambers and Rebecca Roy each knocked in a goal to propel the Beavers.
Kaeleigh Baker made four saves for 6-3 UMF. Laura Gallagher made six stops for 4-9 Lasell.
Lasell 2, Thomas 1
At Waterville Saturday, Tia Pratt and Caitlyn Walker each tallied a goal as Lasell held off the Terriers.
Laura Gallagher made three saves on 15 shots for 4-8 Lasell.
Jana Fetterhoff scored the lone goal for 3-4 Thomas while Megan Denby made five saves on 16 shots.
UM-Farmington 9, Elms 0
At Farmington Saturday, Amanda Fortin tallied three goals to help the 5-3 Beavers cruise.
Rebecca Roy and Samantha Kenison each scored two goals while Ashley Wentworth and Erika Lucas each chipped in with a goal. Kristin Chambers, Alyssa St. Pierre, Nicole Lyons, Hattie Agnew and Renee Trafton each grabbed an assist. Kaeleigh Barker and Sarah Brown combined to for two saves.
Keene State 3, USM 2 (2OT)
At Gorham Saturday, Karen Robinson knocked in the game-winning goal with less than seven minutes remaining in the second overtime to lift Keene State past the Huskies.
Caitlin Albert and Missy Rivet each scored a goal for 9-4 Southern Maine. Allie Hill made 10 saves on 21 shots.
Men’s soccer
Maine 1, UNH 1 (2OT)
At Orono Saturday, Kiaran McCormack scored off an indirect kick by Philip Reed to tie the game for the 2-7-1 Black Bears, although neither team could score again.
McCormack’s goal came with three minutes, 20 seconds left in the first half. He tied the game after former Bangor High standout Dylan George headed in a goal for the 3-3-4 Wildcats 17:08 into the first half.
Maine’s Nemanja Kostic made four saves on 13 shots, while New Hampshire’s Mike Jenne stopped two of six shots.
UM-Presque Isle 4, Thomas 0
At Presque Isle, Matt Petrie, Devon Peaslee, Joe Pinault and Victor Jacques each scored a goal to lift the University of Maine at Presque Isle over Thomas College of Waterville Saturday.
Josh Peaslee and Tony Hibbard provided assists for the 5-5-1 Owls. Scott Clenchy blocked all four shots.
Russell Beckwith and Keegan Curtin combined for eight saves on 12 shots for 5-4-3 Thomas.
Becker 6, Saint Joseph’s 3
At Leicester, Mass., Sunday, Jason Gianatti and R.J. Giegerich each recorded two goals as Becker rolled over the Monks of Standish.
Doug MacCallum led Saint Joseph’s (1-4-1) with a goal and an assist. Matt Zinchuk and Shannon DeShield each added a goal and Cory Smith made 10 saves on 12 shots.
UMass-Dartmouth 2, USM 1
At North Dartmouth, Mass., Saturday, Michael Alves scored in the 51st minute to lift the Corsairs past the Huskies.
Sinisa Bajic tied it for 6-5-1 Southern Maine of Gorham off an assist from Greg Cox. David Kreps stopped seven of 14 shots.
