DOVER-FOXCROFT – Dover-Foxcroft selectmen learned Monday that the former superintendent’s office on Mayo Street has been transferred to the town.

The office was vacated, along with the former Morton Avenue Elementary School, when the new SeDoMoCha Elementary School wing was completed on Harrison Avenue.

Town Manager Jack Clukey said the transfer of the former school to the town is expected in a couple of weeks. SAD 68 wants to keep the ball field on the property as well as the wooded area used for a nature trail.

Rather than do a costly survey, the district is willing to convey all of the property to the town if, in turn, the town would give the district a 99-year lease to the ball field and wooded area, Clukey said.

The town intends to relocate the municipal offices from Central Hall to the school on Morton Avenue. In anticipation of that move, Charleston Correctional Facility inmates have been renovating the building. At the same time, town officials are researching their options for the use of Central Hall.

As for the Mayo Street property, Clukey said the Piscataquis Valley Adult Education Cooperative plans to move from that building into the Penquis Higher Education Center.

“We do have the potential for an empty building there,” Clukey said.

In other business, selectmen:

. Planned for residents to vote on the discontinuance of School Street in June to accommodate the proposed new courthouse.

. Denied a junkyard permit to Herman Michaud based on an incomplete application.

. Set a public hearing for Oct. 22 on a planning grant for the redevelopment of the former Moosehead Manufacturing Co. plant.
