Gladstone scores two, lifts MDI boys to victory

HERMON – Abe Gladstone posted a pair of goals to spark the Mount Desert Island boys soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Hermon Tuesday.

Ben Young and Skyler Lewis each added a goal while Naniel Hilliard had an assist. John Joseph faced eight shots but didn’t have to make a save for the Trojans.

Lance Hollobaugh scored for Hermon while Cory Johnson made nine saves on 13 shots for the Hawks.

JV: MDI 2-0

Dexter 8, DI-Stonington 1

At Dexter, Rick Stewart knocked in four goals and assisted on another as unbeaten Dexter wrapped up regular-season play with a victory over Deer Isle-Stonington.

Devin Grant had three goals and one assist while Ethan Woodman had a goal and two assists for the 12-0-2 Tigers. Chris Eastman recorded two saves on four shots.

Collin Ciomei scored for the 5-4-3 Mariners, with Joe Carter notching the assist. Eben Powers saved 13 of 22 shots.

Ellsworth 3, Foxcroft Acad. 1

At Ellsworth, Zach Emeigh netted two goals to lead Ellsworth by Foxcroft Academy.

Moritz Bohm added a goal while Garrett Kaspala chipped in with an assist for Ellsworth. Greg Berry and Jordan Carter combined to make no saves on two shots for the 8-3-2 Eagles.

Alex Gray stopped 13 of 26 shots for the 0-13 Ponies.

‘Guagus 1, Calvary Chapel 0 (OT)

At Harrington, Andrew Polley netted the game-winning goal with 4:22 remaining in overtime to lift Narraguagus past Calvary Chapel Christian of Orrington.

Tom Wilson earned the assist while Brandon Meserve and Brenden Tenney combined to make seven saves on 10 shots for the 3-9-1 Knights.

Devon Warman made 19 saves on 25 shots for the 5-7 Sabers.

Old Town 1, Bucksport 1 (2OT)

At Old Town, Josh Hesseltine scored an unassisted goal with 2:48 left in regulation to force overtime as the Coyotes earned the tie with the Golden Bucks.

Jon Grindle had scored an unassisted goal for Bucksport with 36:11 remaining in the half.

Ethan Shanley had 10 saves on 12 shots for 5-7-1 Old Town while Ross Brown stopped 15 of 19 for 1-11-1 Bucksport.

JV: Old Town 2-1

Hampden 6, Nokomis 0

At Hampden, Maic Frieden scored three goals to lift Hampden Academy past Nokomis of Newport.

Nick Beal had a goal and assisted on two others for the 9-3-1 Broncos. Harvey Shue had a goal and assist and Greg Myles a goal. Cam Cox stopped all four shots he faced.

Mark Gustin had 13 saves on 23 shots for 0-12-1 Nokomis.

JV: Hampden 2-0

Central 1, John Bapst 0

At Bangor, Patrick Beyers scored an unassisted goal in the 38th minute to lift Central of Corinth to the win.

Tyler Pineo made 10 saves on 19 shots for the Red Devils, who improved to 6-3-3.

Ethan Cushman saved 13 of 14 shots for 6-7 John Bapst.

JV: Central 2-1

Girls soccer

Penobscot Valley 7, Sumner 2

At Howland, Lyndsay Drost and Molly Thompson each netted three goals to lead Penobscot Valley by Sumner of East Sullivan.

Leslie Theriault chipped in with a goal while Drost added two assists. Jordan Faloon and Katie Whitten each had an assist. Julie Theriault and Jamie Michaud combined to make eight saves on 11 shots for the 6-7 Howlers.

Helen Conway and Lona Sargent each scored a goal for 0-13 Sumner. Erin Donnelly made 21 saves on 31 shots for the Tigers.

Hermon 1, MDI 0

At Bar Harbor, Brittney Kelly scored the game’s only goal in the 29th minute to propel the Hermon Hawks to victory.

Lindsey Allen assisted on the goal for 4-8-1 Hermon. Megan Herbert stopped all 10 shots she faced.

Elizabeth Sargent blocked four of six shots for 1-12 Mount Desert Island.

JV: Hermon 3-2

Bucksport 0, Old Town 0 (2OT)

At Bucksport, each team had a couple of good scoring chances in the game but came up empty.

Goalkeeper Stephanie Bridges made seven saves on eight shots for the host Golden Bucks (4-7-2), while Annie Cashon made five saves on eight shots for the 7-5-1 Coyotes.

Hampden 5, Nokomis 2

At Newport, Michaela Stephenson, Rebecca Thornton, Morgan Montgomery-Rice, Abby Neill and Katie Chambers each scored a goal to lead Hampden by Nokomis.

Katie Foster, Lyndsey Martin, Lauren Jadallah and Stephenson each tallied an assist for 9-3-1 Hampden. Michelle Wells made one save on eight shots for the Broncos.

Rebecca Wolinsky and Lyndsey Bailey each netted a goal while Courtney Webber had an assist for Nokomis. Laura Lyford made six saves on 25 shots for the 2-11 Warriors.

JV: Hampden 2-0

Dexter 3, DI-Stonington 1

At Deer Isle, Miranda Gove, Raven Patterson and Alexis Mitchell each scored a goal to lead Dexter by Deer Isle-Stonington.

Patterson also had an assist while Ashley Richardson made seven saves on 21 shots for the Tigers.

Meaghan Robinson scored off an assist from Leti Douglass. Anika Powers made 15 saves on 26 shots for the Mariners.

Ellsworth 6, Foxcroft 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Ashley Cloak knocked in two goals as Ellsworth blanked Foxcroft Academy.

Catherine Carter, Maggie Harding, Sabrina Jellison and Jen Richter added a goal apiece for the 7-4-2 Eagles. Angie Tucker had two saves on four shots.

Sarah Whittemore stopped 22 of 37 shots for the 2-11 Ponies.

John Bapst 7, Central 0

At Corinth, Whitney Sinclair netted four goals to power John Bapst of Bangor by Central.

Morgan Chasse, Catherine Lammert and Kristen Willard each added a goal for 10-0-3 John Bapst. Sam Maquillian made six saves on eight shots for the Crusaders.

Jana Philbrick and Shari Shina combined to make 28 saves on 39 shots for the 3-8-2 Red Devils.

Lee Acad. 6, Penquis 0

At Lee, Aarika Ritchie scored three goals, including the 100th of her career as Lee Academy blanked Penquis of Milo.

Amanda Gifford registered three goals for the 14-0 Pandas, while Heidi Sappier and Dana Houghton each had two assists, with Ritchie adding another. Karin Bird had three saves on five shots.

Erica Lyford stopped three of 35 shots for 1-12 Penquis.

Bangor 3, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Rachel Roberts stopped all 10 shots she faced in net to earn the shutout for visiting Bangor.

Casey Hartley, Jenny Leach and Kendra Lenz tallied a goal apiece for the 9-4 Rams with Samantha Besse contributing an assist.

Carolyn Tuck had 14 saves on 17 shots for 2-12 Brewer.

Field hockey

Belfast 1, Nokomis 0

At Belfast, Danielle Littlefield scored in the 14th minute to lift Belfast to its seventh win.

Allison Murnane assisted on the goal for the 7-6-1 Lions. Leeann Donovan stopped all four Nokomis of Newport shots.

Beth Flanders saved eight of nine shots for the 7-7 Warriors.

JV: Nokomis 2-1

Camden Hills 7, Lincoln Acad. 0

At Rockport, Erika Blauth scored a pair of goals as Camden Hills blanked Lincoln Academy of Newcastle.

Kate Fetterman, Monice Doucette, Megan Bauer and Kayla Dinces each had a goal and assist for the 11-2-1 Windjammers. Amanda Kava added a goal while Mary Jane Young assisted on one of Blauth’s goals. Dale Winsper stopped both shots she faced.

Ariel Clifford and Erin Dodge combined to make 25 saves on 32 shots for the 0-14 Eagles.

Mount View 3, Erskine Acad. 0

At Thorndike, Mollie Arute tallied two goals to lead Mount View by Erskine Academy of South China.

Tessa Mayberry added a goal and an assist while Kristin Masessa grabbed an assist for Mount View. Lyndsey Cronan stopped all three shots she faced for the 10-4 Mustangs.

Ashley Richardson made six saves on nine shots for the 3-10-1 Eagles.

JV: 1-1

Foxcroft 1, John Bapst 0 (OT)

At Dover-Foxcroft, Jen Gagnon scored with 6:06 remaining in the first overtime as Foxcroft Academy dodged an upset and finished the regular season at 12-2.

Emily Hutchinson assisted on Gagnon’s goal for the Ponies, which outshot John Bapst of Bangor 51-2.

Renee Mahew stopped both shots she faced for FA while Hillary Laferriere saved 50 of 51 for the 2-11-1 Crusaders.

JV: Foxcroft 6-0

Mattanawcook 2, PCHS 1 (OT)

At Guilford, Michelle Paul scored the game-winner with 1:25 remaining in overtime off a pass from Brooke Hanscom to lift Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln past Piscataquis.

Kamryn Knott scored a goal in the first half to tie the game for Mattanawcook. Sarah French made three saves on five shots for the 13-1 Lynx.

Kaitlin Smith scored for Piscataquis, with Annie Agnew nabbing the assist. Brianna Tweedie made 20 saves on 25 shots for the 0-14 Pirates.

JV: PCHS 2-0
