Carter paces Eagles to win over Terriers

BANGOR – Nathan Carter scored two goals and assisted on another to lead Husson College past Thomas of Waterville 7-1 in men’s soccer play Wednesday.

Nattapong Kongauriya added two goals for the 7-7-1 Eagles. Joshua Bartlett and Wade Fenderson also scored. Mark Trombley provided two assists while Robert Cowart and William Shannon added one apiece.

The first goal at 1:06 in the first was an own goal against Thomas.

Husson’s Miguel Dominguez and Jon Crowie combined to stop seven of 13 shots.

Tim Costa scored an unassisted goal in the first half for 5-5-3 Thomas. Russell Beckwith and Keegan Curtin combined for eight saves on 24 shots.

Boston University 2, Maine 0

At Boston, Aaron O’Neal scored both goals to lift Boston University over the University of Maine.

Jin Oh assisted O’Neal’s second-half goal for 6-5 Boston University. Joe Cullaro blocked three of four shots.

Nemanja Kostic and Giacomo Brunino combined for eight saves on 15 shots for the 2-8-1 Black Bears.

UM-Fort Kent 6, UM-Machias 1

At Fort Kent, Damien Stone and Arnold Lewis each scored two goals to lead UMaine-Fort Kent past UMaine-Machias.

Emelyn Jacoby and Andre Anderson notched a goal apiece for the 13-0 Bengals. Derek Plourde had one save on two shots.

Pat Corliss scored for 4-7-2 UMaine-Machias. Adam Mauro recorded six saves on 19 shots.

Women’s soccer

UM-Farmington 2, Husson 1

At Farmington, Amber Murphy scored the game-winning goal 1 minute, 5 seconds into the second half as the Beavers improved to 10-3.

Melissa St. Amand drilled a penalty kick to give UMF an early lead. Kerry Kowalczyk stopped three of nine shots.

Michelle Manning evened the game for the 8-6-1 Beavers, booting in the rebound of her own shot about 41/2 minutes before halftime. Tatyana Wolterbeek made four saves on 12 shots.

UM-Fort Kent 8, UM-Machias 0

At Machias, Emily Burnett scored two goals, Brianne McGary had a goal and an assist, and five others had one goal apiece as the Bengals rolled over the Clippers.

Liz Clavette, Maria Williams, Megan Watson, Reegan Brown and Shanae Armstrong each chipped in with a goal. Liz Laplante made two saves on three shots for UMaine-Fort Kent.

Alison Schmidt stopped eight of 21 shots for UMaine-Machias.

Colby 0, Saint Joseph’s 0 (2OT)

At Waterville, neither Colby’s Laura Pisani nor Saint Joseph’s Katye Mayo allowed a goal through regulation and two overtimes as the teams settled for a tie.

Pisani made 11 saves on 17 shots for the 3-5-2 White Mules. Mayo stopped seven of 15 shots for the 12-1-1 Monks of Standish.

Bates 5, Southern Maine 1

At Lewiston, Molly Wagner scored one goal and assisted on others by Ali Emery and Avery Pierce as Bates College triumphed.

Jen Morse and Jen Marino added a goal apiece while Hannah Porst notched an assist for 2-8 Bates. Brittney French had six saves on 13 shots.

Danielle Poulin scored an unassisted goal for 6-6 Southern Maine of Gorham. Mindy Morneault stopped 12 of 38 shots.
