Mental Health Fair

BANGOR – A community mental health fair, organized by Acadia Hospital, will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Bangor Mall.

Taking part will be A Family for ME, the Acadia Hospital, Bangor Pastoral Counseling, Charlotte White Center, Community Care, Community Health and Counseling, Good Will-Hinckley, Maine Department of Human Services, NAMI-ME, Shaw House, Rape Response Services, Tail Waggin’ and WINGS.

Promotions at EMHS

BREWER – Coinciding with the upcoming retirement of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems Executive Vice President Ken Hews, the system is transitioning his leadership responsibilities to three people.

Miles Theeman became president of Affiliated Healthcare Systems, effective Oct. 1. He has been a key part of AHS leadership for many years.

Lisa Harvey-McPherson was promoted to the new position of EMHS vice president of Continuum of Care. She will work with the board members of Rosscare and Eastern Maine HomeCare and others involved with long-term care, hospice, home and residential care.

Michael Crowley will become president of Healthcare Charities on Nov. 27.

Hews has agreed to continue with EMHS on a part-time basis to lead the completion of the second building at Brewer Professional Center.

Andrea Littlefield has been appointed coordinator for the Institute for Medical Improvement, an EMHS program that works with physician practices to support improved systems for care for patients with chronic illnesses.

The institute is working on several grant-funded programs, including projects focused on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the use of technology for chronic disease management, cancer survivorship and patient self-management.
