BANGOR – Five Maine natives had a short layover at the city’s airport Wednesday morning on the way home from deployment overseas.

Two troop flights landed at Bangor International Airport before noon Wednesday, the first carrying four Maine sailors who were deployed overseas with the U.S. Navy, said Anita Stuart, a Maine Troop Greeter.

James West of Jonesport, Jason Richard of Livermore, Dana Kenney of Brunswick, and a fourth Maine sailor were on the first flight, Stuart said. A Maine soldier, returning from overseas with the U.S. Army, was on board the second troop flight that stopped at BIA before noon.

The Maine Troop Greeters welcomed approximately 450 service members to BIA between 10 a.m. and noon, Stuart said.

Families gathered at the Bangor airport to welcome home their Maine soldier and sailors, she said.
