WA’s Jackson earns shutout against ‘Dogs

EAST MACHIAS – Josiah Jackson made 18 saves on 22 shots to lead Washington Academy to a 4-0 boys soccer victory over Machias on Wednesday.

Todd Junn, Young Gi, Min Kim and Milos Gautier scored a goal apiece for the 11-1 Raiders.

Justin Weaver stopped 31 of 40 shots for the 10-2-1 Bulldogs.

Penobscot Valley 4, Sumner 2

At East Sullivan, Dylan Thompson scored one goal and assisted on another to power Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Ryan Scoenio and Leigh Valley added a goal apiece for the Howlers. Aaron Aywalt had 12 saves on 20 shots.

Joey Ossanna and Anthony Cultrea had a goal apiece for Sumner. Ralph Tayamora stopped 18 of 42 shots.

Narraguagus 4, Jonesport-Beals 0

At Harrington, Tom Wilson had a goal and an assist to push Narraguagus past Jonesport-Beals.

Ryan Hatt and Robbie Hammond scored for the 4-9-1 Knights. Gustavo Ortiz, Travis Brann and Kris Greene provided assists. Brandon Meserve and Ortiz combined for five saves on six shots.

Sid Looke blocked 15 of 22 shots for 1-11-1 Jonesport-Beals.

Central 5, Old Town 2

At Corinth, Scott Kelley scored three goals and assisted another to lift Central over Old Town.

Jacob Speed added two goals and an assist for the 9-3-2 Red Devils. Tyler Pineo blocked 16 of 21 shots.

Luke Bartlett and Colin Zegenbein scored for 5-8-1 Old Town. Josh Hesseltine provided an assist and Ethan Shanley made 13 saves on 23 shots.

JV: Old Town 3-2

Highview Christian 11, Averill 1

At Charleston, Jumpu Morishita scored five goals to lift Highview Christian to victory over Averill of Hinckley.

Jordan Day added two goals for the 3-7-1 Knights and Ben Le had a goal and an assist. Wesley Jones, Long Hoan Tran and Cody Crooker each added a goal. Nathan Chandler stopped nine of 10 shots.

Dorothy Leighton scored an unassisted goal in the first half for 0-12 Averill. Zach Morse, Dawn Hans and Leighton combined for 17 saves on 35 shots.

Schenck 2, Katahdin 1

At Stacyville, Joshua Brown was credited with the game-winning goal when his direct kick went into the net off the head of a Katahdin player almost four minutes into the second half as the Wolverines picked up the win.

Aaron Hutchins tied the game for 6-5-1 Schenck of East Millinocket off an assist from Trevor Violette with 4:19 left in the first half. Lanny Thompson made eight saves on 14 shots.

Ethan Qualey scored off a Tom Anderson assist to give the 5-7-1 Cougars an early lead. Matt Tarr stopped five of eight shots.

Fort Fairfield 5, LCS/MSSM 0

At Limestone, Ryan Noyes had two goals and assisted on another to lead Fort Fairfield past Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Math.

Patrick Kinsey netted two goals while Josh Booth added another for the 11-3 Tigers. Austin Dufour stopped all six shots he faced.

A.J. Rossignol had 14 saves on 19 shots for 3-10-1 Limestone.

Field hockey

Central 3, Orono 1

At Orono, Hilary Haney scored two goals, one of them unassisted, to lead Central of Corinth to the victory over the Red Riots.

For the Red Devils, Rachel Trafton scored the other goal. Kaitlyn Stymiest and Sam Blanchard each had assists and Alix Rudzinski made 10 saves on 11 shots.

Chelsea Wagner scored unassisted for the Riots. Amber Saucier made 10 saves on 13 shots.

Girls soccer

Erskine 3, Rockland 0

At South China, Jessica St. Armand, Callie Thompson and Kathy Batchelder scored to push Erskine Academy past Rockland.

Ericka Malley stopped six of nine shots for 14-0 Erskine.

Kayla McGuire made 19 saves on 30 shots for 6-8 Rockland.

Calais 0, Woodland 0 (2OT)

At Calais, Hillary Hollingdale of Calais and Woodland’s Cynthia Bergin didn’t allow a goal through regulation and two overtimes.

Hollingdale turned away eight of 10 shots for 6-5-2 Calais.

Bergin made 10 saves on 12 shots for 7-4-3 Woodland.

Old Town 2, Central 0

At Old Town, Allison Brown scored one goal and assisted on another by Katie Deschane as Old Town blanked Central.

Hannah Barry assisted on Brown’s goal for the 8-5-1 Coyotes. Annie Cashon and Nicole Guay combined for two saves on five shots.

Jana Philbrick blocked four of eight shots for 3-9-2 Central of Corinth.

JV: Old Town 7-0
