MACHIAS – Corey Harding’s goal off a pass from Devon Peaslee in the 68th minute lifted the University of Maine-Presque Owls to a 2-1 men’s soccer victory over the UM-Machias Clippers Thursday.

Peaslee scored the first goal for UMPI in the first half, with Joe Pinault grabbing the assist. Scott Clenchy made two saves on four shots for the Owls.

Tom Erlanbach netted the goal for UMM off an Isaiah Eagles assist. Adam Mauro stopped 17 of 25 shots for the Clippers.

Women’s soccer

Boston University 3, Maine 1

At Orono, Boston University netted two goals in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and defeat the University of Maine.

Christina Reuter made four saves for the 6-5-2 Terriers.

Christine LaBelle scored a goal to tie the game for Maine late in the first half off an assist from Laura Martel. Jasmine Phillips made a pair of saves for the 4-5-2 Black Bears.

UMPI 9, UM-Machias 0

At Machias, Erin Pelletier tallied three goals to power the University of Maine-Presque Isle by the University of Maine-Machias.

Jessica Kinney scored two goals while Mindy Dolley, Anna DeLong, Katie Moody and Johannah Bubar each chipped in with a goal for UMPI. Billie Martin saved both shots she faced.

Alicia Schmidt made 11 saves on 22 shots for the Clippers.

Field hockey

Southern Maine 1, Colby 0

At Gorham, Sara Winterbottom scored the game’s only goal on a redirected ball from Alyson Lumino late in the first half to lead the University of Southern Maine by Colby.

Allie Hill made seven saves on 14 shots for the 10-4 Huskies.

Jamie Enos stopped five of eight shots for the 2-8 Mules of Waterville.
