BANGOR – Delta Airlines announced that two additional daily flights would fly between the city’s airport and Boston, beginning Nov. 4.
The two flights will leave the Bangor International Airport at 5:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. in 19-seat turbo-propelled aircraft.
Delta’s expanded service to Boston will begin just one day before American Eagle discontinues service at Bangor. Eagle flies 32 flights a week from BIA, 23 of which are to Boston on 37-seat regional jets.
“It’s going to help offset, but obviously not completely replace the loss of American Eagle,” said Rebecca Hupp, director of BIA.
At present, Delta flies four daily flights from Bangor to Boston and then additional routes to Cincinnati and Atlanta.
“We have had continuing discussions with Delta,” Hupp said Friday. “I think they based their decision [to expand] on actual demand, while also looking at current passenger enplanements and reservations.”
