VASSALBORO – Ryan Gay of Gardiner and David Gushee of Gorham each shot a 2-over-par 74 Saturday to share the Class A golf individual state championship for the second straight year.

Gushee birdied the final hole on the Tomahawk Course at Natanis Golf Course to pull even with Gay, who had triple-bogeyed the hole. The two juniors may try to break the stalemate next year.

Michael Bouchard of Messalonskee High in Oakland finished third in Class A with a 79.

Johnny Hayes of Cape Elizabeth shot the low round of the day with a 73 on his way to claiming Class B honors.

Shawn Keenan of Carrabec High in North Anson and Kyle Maines of Telstar of Bethel shared the Class C championship by shooting a 77. Kate Merrill of North Yarmouth Academy was the girls winner with a 77.

In Class B, Jack Wyman of Falmouth finished second with a 78, while Porter Gervais of Houlton and Alex Hymanson of York tied for third at 79.

In Class C, Zach Sweet of Madison took third place with a score of 80, followed by Orion Cochrane of Greenville at 81.

Among the girls, Ing Knowcharoen of Fryeburg Academy was the runner-up at 80, while Danille Willey of Lewiston was third (85) and Amy Michaud of Presque Isle fourth (88).
