‘Spiritual makeover’ offered in Charleston

CHARLESTON – A local church is taking the “extreme makeover” trend in a different direction this weekend.

The Women of Promise annual summit at Charleston Pentecostal Church this year will feature an “extreme spiritual makeover,” organizer Darcy Ward said last week.

“This is a time to clean out our closets spiritually,” she said. “We’ll get rid of the things we need to get rid of and come out more like the women of God we should be. We’ll have music, a meal and a really good time.”

Ward, 35, is the wife of the Rev. Matthew Ward, senior pastor of the church on Route 11 in Charleston. She has led the Women’s Ministry since her husband became senior pastor in 2000.

The Extreme Spiritual Makeover program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, and continue at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.

Cost of the conference is $25 and includes lunch.

The registration deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 16.
