THOMASTON – Eastern Maine Development Corp. is recruiting candidates to become the first manager of the new Marine Systems Training Center.

The Marine Systems center will be located in 5,000 square feet of the Thomaston Academy building on Main Street. The center will offer a wide range of classroom training opportunities, computer lab and design classes, and hands-on shop- and project-based training for the marine trades and boat building industry.

Courses, certificates and degrees will be offered at the center by the Landing School, the Maine Community College System and the American Boat and Yacht Council. In addition, original equipment manufacturers will conduct training programs on the latest engines, systems, computer software and equipment for the marine industry. It is hoped that the first classes can begin in the Thomaston facility in January.
