Husson shuts out Thomas Eagles’ Nason nets two, Dorso one

BANGOR – Erin Nason scored twice to secure the Husson Eagles’ 3-0 women’s soccer victory over Thomas of Waterville on Tuesday.

Erica Dorso tallied the first goal for Husson, which posted all three of its scores in the second half. Dorso and Krystal Doughty had assists, and Kelly Bocchino made three saves on eight shots for the 10-3 Eagles.

Drielle Mitchell made eight saves on 19 shots for the 5-6 Terriers.

UM-Farmington 4, UNE 2

At Farmington, Kristin Chambers scored three goals to lead the University of Maine-Farmington past the University of New England of Biddeford.

Alyssa St. Pierre added a goal for UMF, while Nicole Lyons, Rebecca Roy and Hattie Agnew each had an assist. Kaeleigh Barker made eight saves on 11 shots for the 9-4 Beavers.

Jess Scott notched both goals for UNE, and Ayla Nelson made 21 saves on 32 shots for the 4-9 Nor’Easters.

Men’s soccer

Colby 3, Maine Maritime 0

At Castine, Tom Milaschewski, Nate Seiberling and Logan King each netted a goal to lead Colby by Maine Maritime Academy.

Jose Luis Mendoza, Adam Curatolo and King each posted an assist for 5-5-1 Colby.

Randy Bartlett made 14 saves on 42 shots for the 3-10-2 Mariners.

SMCC 1, NMCC 0

At Portland, Ben Lomeri scored the game-winning goal at the 30:00 mark in the first half to lead Southern Maine Community College by Northern Maine Community College.

Declan Hassett stopped eight of 10 shots for the Seawolves, while Sam Petrie made 15 saves on 20 shots for NMCC.

Football

Vermont 20, Maine club 12

At Orono, Drew Trombley completed 11 of 19 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns as the University of Vermont knocked off the UMaine club team on Saturday.

Sean McKenzie caught two passes, both for touchdowns, totaling 114 yards in receptions for the Catamounts.

Brett Davison paced UMaine with a 2-yard touchdown pass to Justin Mattos in the third quarter and a 2-yard TD plunge in the second. He finished 12-of-30 passing for 165 yards.
