BANGOR – United Way of Eastern Maine’s annual community meeting will be at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Morgan Hill Event Center on Route 2 in Hermon.
The keynote speaker will be Chris Huskilson, CEO of Emera, parent company of Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. Emera’s headquarters are in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Huskilson will speak on the value of corporate philanthropy for businesses and present examples of Bangor Hydro’s commitment to the people of eastern Maine.
United Way officials will provide an overview of accomplishments from the last year and present its Pillar of the Community Award; honor an organization that is setting an example in participating in collaborative efforts with the Community Builder Award; and celebrate the spirit of volunteerism with the Board Chair’s Award. Retiring and new board members also will be recognized.
The meeting is scheduled to begin with breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by the program at 8 a.m. Cost for the breakfast is $10. Ric Tyler from Clear Channel’s “Maine in the Morning” radio program will be the event’s master of ceremonies.
