Deer hunters will at least be able to get breakfast

Hunting season’s nearly upon us – or directly upon us, if you’re between the ages of 10 and 15 – and it’s time to make one of the biggest decisions you’ll make all year.

Where to eat?

Civic organizations and businesses across the state are holding hunters breakfasts in the coming weeks. Here are some of your options:

. In Bangor, at the Elks Club on Odlin Road, the ninth annual Clarence Brown Young Hunters Breakfast on Oct. 27 from 4-8 a.m., free for all, but donations for the Maine Youth Fish & Game Association will be accepted.

. In Bucksport, at Bucksmills Rod & Gun Club, 4-9 a.m. on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

. In Machias, at the Centre Street Congregational Church, Oct. 27, 5-9 a.m., $6. Call the chamber of commerce at 255-4402 or Betsy Fitzgerald at 255-6621 for information.

. In Milo, at Penquis Valley High School, 40th annual breakfast on Oct. 27 from 4:30-8:30 a.m. Tickets are $4 in advance and $5 at the door. Call 943-7346.

. In Trenton, at the volunteer fire department, Oct. 27 from 4-10 a.m., $6 for adults, $3 for children age 5 and up, children under 5 get in free.

. In Corinth, at Powerline Prowlers Snowmobile Club on Route 15 on Oct. 27, 4:30-9 a.m., $5 for adults, $3 for children under 12.

. In Ellsworth, at VFW Post 109, Oct. 27 from 4-9 a.m., $6.

. In Pittsfield, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, the St. Agnes Catholic School will hold a breakfast on Oct. 27 from 4-10 a.m. Call Paula Raymond at 487-3899 with questions. If you don’t get your deer, that’s OK … they’ll raffle off a side of beef.

. In Presque Isle, the Presque Isle Fish & Game Club’s 59th annual breakfast on Oct. 27 from 4-8 a.m., $5 per person.

. In Ashland, at Deer Ridge Lodge on Wrightville Road, Oct. 27 (and daily for the entire season) from 4-10 a.m., $6 per person. Call 435-7055 for information.

. In LaGrange, the LaGrange Community Support Group will hold a breakfast at the Masonic Hall on Oct. 27 from 4-8 a.m., $5 in advance and $6 at the door.

. In Hartland, at the Hartland Methodist Church, sponsored by the Hartland-St. Albans Lions Club, Oct. 27 from 4-8 a.m., $5 per person.

. In Hudson, at the Pushaw Lake Snowmobile Club on Whitmore Landing Road, Nov. 3 from 4-9 a.m.

. In Exeter, at Exeter School, to benefit the school’s Boston trip, Nov. 3 from 4:30-9 a.m., adults $4.50, children age 12 and under $2.50.

. In Eddington, at the Eddington Salmon Club, Nov. 3 from 4-9 a.m.

. In Brewer, at the Penobscot County Conservation Association, Nov. 17 beginning at 4 a.m.
