MILLINOCKET – Charlie Osborne rushed for 119 yards on 20 carries, scored a touchdown and converted a pair of two-point conversions to lead Stearns past Maine Central Institute 16-13 in high school football action Friday night.

It was the Minutemen’s first home win since September 2004.

Kurt Hamilton added 109 yards on 11 carries and a second-quarter touchdown for the Minutemen.

Corey Barnett posted 15 tackles, including two quarterback sacks, for Stearns.

Nick Miller rushed 27 times for 179 yards and scored a third-quarter touchdown for the Huskies of Pittsfield. Brandon Wilson completed 6 of 13 passes for 101 yards, including a 23-yard TD pass to Matt Delaney in the first quarter.

Stearns rushed for 311 yards as a team.

Mattanawcook 52, Orono 6

At Lincoln, the Mattanawcook defense held the Red Riots to 51 yards of total offense while sophomore Josh Pelkey passed for two touchdowns in his varsity debut as the Lynx earned a key LTC victory.

MA’s offensive line of tackles Darren Smart, Evan Haskell, guards and twin brothers Ian Nevells and Nathan Nevells along with center Matt Brown paved the way for 330 yards rushing while Pelkey wasn’t sacked.

Brady Vose compiled 141 yards on 23 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 13 and 12 yards for the Lynx. Pelkey finished 5-of-6 passing for 51 yards and chipped in 57 yards rushing, including a 47-yard TD scamper.

Ian Nevells finished with seven tackles while Nathan notched six for the winners; Greg Hand, starting his first game at fullback, contributed 62 yards on 12 carries while recording five tackles, a sack and forcing a fumble.

John Doughty returned a kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown for Orono’s lone score.

At Bar Harbor, quarterback Jake Arthers scored two touchdowns to pace the Lions past the Trojans.

Arthers opened the scoring with a 30-yard run in the first quarter, then capped the scoring in the second quarter with a 2-yard run.

In between, Belfast added second-period touchdowns by running backs Alex Mansfield and Nick Marston. Mansfield scampered 35 yards for his TD, then rushed for the two-point conversion. Marston’s run was 4 yards, and Mansfield added another two-point PAT.

Mansfield finished with 118 yards on 19 carries, and Arthers added 94 yards on eight carries.

Quarterback Tyler Crawford was 6 for 13 for 115 yards for Mount Desert Island, and Terrence Jones caught three of them for 82 yards. Defensive back Jasper Cousins made 20 tackles.

At Rockland, the Ponies piled up 360 rushing yards en route to the win over Rockland.

Jerod Rideout compiled 110 yards on 13 carries and scored three touchdowns for Foxcroft Academy, while Shane Adkins notched 110 yards on seven carries and a 50-yard touchdown run.

Sam Weiss returned the game’s opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown for Rockland and returned another 85 yards for a score later in the first quarter. He added a 65-yard touchdown reception; Dylan Meklin finished 8-of-20 passing for 161 yards and a touchdown.
