GUILFORD – The SAD 4 middle and high school campus will be expanded thanks to a decision during a districtwide meeting Thursday.
Voting 29-10, residents of Guilford, Sangerville, Abbot, Cambridge, Parkman and Wellington authorized the district to buy the Haley property at the campus entrance.
“We feel that’s going to make a safer corner for students,” said SAD 4 Superintendent Paul Stearns on Friday.
He said a title search will be done on the property, which is slightly less than half an acre.
Assuming the title is clean, the district will close on the property. Once the property is purchased, the district intends to have the Fire Department demolish a house on the lot.
The $49,000 purchase price and the approximately $6,000 for other costs, including ditching, changing the slope of the property and seeding, will be funded through the renovation reserve account for minor projects and contingency funds.
