Foxcroft advances to EM ‘C’ final John Bapst, Winslow, Lee, Orono gain berths in girls soccer semifinals

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Kayla Clukey scored with 35 seconds remaining in overtime off a pass from Emily Hutchinson as the No. 1 Foxcroft Academy Ponies edged the No. 4 Central Red Devils 1-0 in an Eastern Maine Class C field hockey semifinal Saturday.

The Ponies will host the EM title game on Wednesday against the winner of Monday’s semifinal between Central of Corinth at Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.

Renee Maheu stopped both shots she faced for the 14-2 Ponies.

Kara Voisine made 23 saves on 24 shots for the 11-5 Red Devils.

Girls soccer

Class B

John Bapst 5, Caribou 1

At Bangor, Whitney Sinclair scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 20 seconds left in the first half, to lead No. 3 John Bapst past No. 6 Caribou.

Morgan Chasse also scored two goals for the 12-0-3 Crusaders. Kristen Willard added a goal and Catherine Lammert provided an assist. Sam Maquillian blocked six of seven shots.

Jenna Selander scored with 20:01 remaining in the first half to tie it at 1-1 for 11-4-1 Caribou. Brittany Doak made 13 saves on 27 shots.

Presque Isle 4, Ellsworth 1

At Presque Isle, Sarah Porter tallied two goals and an assist to spark No. 2 Presque Isle by No. 7 Ellsworth.

Kayla Legasse and Brittany Bearden each chipped in with a goal for 10-2-3 Presque Isle. Alisen Donovan made nine saves on 13 shots for the Wildcats.

Jen Richter scored for Ellsworth off a pass from Emily Lyons. Rachel Arkin made 10 saves on 15 shots for the 9-5-2 Eagles.

Winslow 6, Bucksport 0

At Winslow, Katie Caron scored two goals to lead No. 4 Winslow past No. 12 Bucksport.

Liz Cheeseman added a goal and two assists for 15-1 Winslow. Vicki Nadeau, Kim Curtis and Kaylee Constable each scored. Jordyn Mallett provided two assists and Jordan Vigue had an assist. Beth Fisher stopped two of four shots.

Stephanie Bridges blocked eight of 27 shots for 5-9-2 Bucksport.

Class C

Madawaska 3, WA Raiders 1

At Madawaska, Susan Lavertu scored the game-winning goal on a direct kick at 15:19 left in the second half to break the 1-1 tie and lift No. 4 Madawaska over No. 5 Washington Academy of East Machias.

Kallie Pelletier tied it off of a Lavertu assist with 21:36 remaining in the second half for 12-2-1 Madawaska. Pelletier also scored the insurance goal with 13:40 left. Stephanie Nadeau blocked 10 of 12 shots.

Breanna Nicely was credited with a first-half goal for 13-1-0 Washington Academy. Irene Lewey made 12 saves on 18 shots.

GSA 6, Piscataquis 0

At Blue Hill, Alida Peake recorded two goals and an assist to power No. 1 George Stevens Academy by No. 9 Piscataquis of Guilford.

Emily Peake, Laura Overton, Quinn Curtin and Doran Curtin each added a goal for 14-0-1 George Stevens Academy. Sara Gunnedahl and Kayla Eaton combined to make three saves on six shots for the Eagles.

Jill Martell made 21 saves on 31 shots for 9-5-1 Piscataquis.

Lee Acad. 2, Fort Kent 0

At Lee, Aarika Ritchie and Heidi Sappier each scored a goal in the second half to lead No. 3 Lee Academy by No. 6 Fort Kent.

Amanda Gifford grabbed the assist on the goal by Ritchie. Karin Bird stopped all 14 shots she faced for the 15-0 Pandas.

Carissa Pelletier made 10 saves on 32 shots for the 8-6-2 Warriors.

Orono 1, Searsport 0

At Orono, Lauren Wheeler netted the game-winning goal with 19:08 remaining in the first half to lift No. 2 Orono past No. 7 Searsport.

Ruth Mares made four saves on eight shots for the 11-4 Red Riots.

Amanda Chaney and Meghan Higgins combined to make 16 saves on 24 shots for the 11-5 Vikings.

Class D

Katahdin 4, Hodgdon 1

At Stacyville, Melissa Duffy netted three goals to lead No. 4 Katahdin by No. 12 Hodgdon.

Mary-Jo Robinson added a goal and two assists while Jalisa Moore and Kali Rush each grabbed an assist for 9-4-2 Katahdin. Kayla Stevens made three saves on four shots for the Cougars.

Shannon Martin scored for Hodgdon off an assist from Dayna Tidd. Emily Jurson stopped seven of 11 shots for the Hawks.

Ashland 4, So. Aroostook 0

At Ashland, Jacky Raymond had a hat trick with three goals to lift No. 1 Ashland over No. 8 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Whitney Flint had a goal and three assists for the 13-0-2 Hornets and Macie Pelkey provided an assist on Flint’s goal. Taylor Baker recorded her sixth shutout by stopping seven of 11 shots.

Kim Grant made eight saves on 13 shots for 7-8-1 Southern Aroostook.

Boys soccer

Class D

Vinalhaven 1, Greenville 0

At Greenville, Steven Osgood scored the game-winning goal with 33:59 remaining in the first half as No. 6 Vinalhaven upset No. 3 Greenville in Western Maine quarterfinal action.

Nathan Hopkins stopped 29 of 34 shots for the 8-6-1 Vikings.

Tim Post made 12 saves on 15 shots for 9-4 Greenville.
