Bragg leads Patriots into semifinal

BANGOR – Katherine Bragg scored the winning goal off a Christin Pelletier assist with just 1 minute, 8 seconds left in regulation as No. 2 Bangor Christian edged No. 7 Van Buren 2-1 Monday afternoon in an Eastern Maine Class D girls soccer quarterfinal.

The first-ever meeting between the two teams in the playoffs was postponed two days as the field was unplayable on Saturday.

Kelly Robinson put the 11-4 Patriots up 1-0 off a Bragg assist with 28:26 left in the first half. Moriah Bach stopped five of seven shots.

Jennifer Ouellette scored 31 seconds into the second half off a Lindsay Lajoie assist to tie it at 1-1. Ouellette and Trisha Gagnon combined for 11 saves on 23 shots.

Class B

Waterville 2, Camden Hills 1

At Rockport, Chanelle Lansley scored an unassisted goal with 2:17 left in overtime to break the 1-1 tie and lead No. 4 Waterville to the semifinal upset of top-seeded Camden Hills.

The Windjammers beat Waterville 2-1 earlier in the season. Waterville will meet No. 3 Belfast for the EM Class B title at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Belfast.

Jenna Jolicoeur scored on a Jessica Defelice assist with 22:20 remaining in regulation to tie it up for 11-5 Waterville. Kristin Tormollan blocked seven of eight shots.

Monica Doucette put 12-3-1 Camden Hills up 1-0 with 3:14 left in the first half off a Lizzie Mitchell assist. Dale Winsper made 12 saves on 14 shots.
