Penobscot Nation club to host fundraiser

HERMON – The Penobscot Nation Boys & Girls Club will host its third annual appeal 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Morgan Hill Event Center in Hermon.

The event will give those in attendance a chance to learn about the club’s programs and activities in addition to how gifts help to support the club.

The event will include traditional drumming, documentary viewing and complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres provided by Burby & Bates of Orono and Hannaford.

Penobscot Nation Chief Kirk Francis will be the keynote speaker.

The Penobscot Nation Boys & Girls Club was the first American Indian club in the Northeast. It was established in 2000 and now serves more than 200 children. It provides children with free access to recreation, educational and cultural activities, as well as a technology center, arts and crafts center, learning center and Kid’s Cafe. A $1,000 sponsorship will fund a full year of after-school programming for one child.

For more information or to sponsor a program by making a donation, call club director Carla Fearon at 827-7776, ext. 7355.
