PORTLAND – The front office and grounds crew of the Portland Sea Dogs will make a young fan’s dream come true through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Sea Dogs will build a mini baseball field complete with a Green Monster fence for 8-year-old Ben of Portland, who has Histiocytosis, a rare blood disease.
Ben and friends will be picked up after school by a limousine and driven around the city before the boy will be surprised with the project and greeted by Slugger the Sea Dog at 4 p.m. today.
Construction materials include an actual home plate and pitcher’s mound from Hadlock Field while the old Slugger sign will be used as part of the scoreboard.
