Brewer Youth Theatre will present the BYT Radio Players’ fourth annual Halloween Radio Show at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Brewer Middle School, 5 Somerset St. Audience members will be active participants, playing the role of a studio audience for a live radio show in October 1952.
“We specifically chose 1952,” said director Rich Kimball, “because it was the last year before television came to Maine. People still listened to the radio as a primary source of entertainment and information.”
The program includes high school actors performing the suspenseful drama “Sorry, Wrong Number;” “Strange But True,” a tale of the supernatural; and a 1950s-style game show, “Junior Quizmasters.”
Live music will be provided by several students, and special guest Nancy LaMarre playing traditional Acadian music on the accordion. Clayton Smith returns as the show’s music director. He will lend a hand with sound effects.
WABI-TV Channel 5’s Jim Morris joins the cast to give listeners the news and sports headlines of 1952 and there will be live “commercials” from the time period with the students.
Admission is $3, $2 students and $10 families. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Call 989-8640 for information.
