AUGUSTA – Emerge Maine is accepting applications for its 2008 leadership program. Emerge Maine recruits and trains Democratic women to run for office.

Emerge Maine is a five-month program that meets one weekend each month. Tuition is $250. The application deadline is Nov. 1.

“Serving the people of Maine in the state Legislature is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done,” said House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree. “Emerge Maine will help train and inspire more Maine women to run for public office, and I strongly encourage any woman who is interested in serving in public office to apply.”
