FARMINGTON – Kristen Chambers, Hattie Agnew and Emma Deans each scored twice Saturday to lead the top-seeded University of Maine-Farmington field hockey team past No. 8 Elms College 12-0 in the North Atlantic Conference quarterfinals.
Renee Trafton and Alyssa St. Pierre both had a goal and an assist for 11-5 UM-Farmington. Ashley Wentworth, Amanda Fortin, Ashley Weeks and Nicole Lyons added goals. Kaeleigh Barker and Sarah Brown combined for two saves.
Katelyn Wasgat made 19 saves for 2-15 Elms.
Maine 2, Fairfield 1
At Fairfield, Conn., Amy Zdrojesky scored off a penalty corner at 28:34 of the first half Saturday, lifting the University of Maine to a season-ending victory over Fairfield.
Erin Reusch and Nicole Emery provided assists on the game-winner for the Black Bears (5-11, 1-4 America East). Kim MacDonald scored an unassisted goal for UMaine.
Rebecca Giroux made four saves, including thwarting a penalty stroke, for the Bears.
Anne Nieuwenhuis scored for Fairfield (3-17, 0-5 AE). Elizabeth Thomas made four saves.
Husson 8, Thomas 3
At Bangor, Elisha Dorso tallied three goals and an assist as Husson defeated Thomas Sunday to advance to the North Atlantic Conference semifinals.
Erica Dorso posted a goal and three assists while Lindsay Barnes, Shawna Bell, Cassandra Kidd and Krystal Doughty each added a goal for 11-4 Husson.
Kelly Bocchino made five saves on nine shots for the Eagles.
Amy Miles scored two goals while Alyssa Audie had one for Thomas. Drielle Mitchell stopped 11 of 25 shots for the 5-7 Terriers.
USM 3, Fitchburg State 1
At Fitchburg, Mass., Missy Rivet, Caitlin Albert and Sara Winterbottom each tallied a goal in the second half to lead the University of Southern Maine by Fitchburg State College on Saturday.
Allie Hill stopped seven of nine shots for the 13-6 Huskies of Gorham.
Emily Creen made no saves on seven shots for 2-15 Fitchburg State.
