BELFAST – A local man is being treated at a Bangor hospital for head and leg injuries after being hit by a car Saturday night.

Keith Tracy, 47, of Belfast was injured when he stepped into the path of a car driving down Route 1 at 8:16 p.m.

Police Chief Jeffrey Trafton said Tracy had just purchased beer at the Irving Mainway and was walking across the street to his residence to watch the World Series game when he was struck. Trafton said Monday that it was dark and raining at the time and Tracy apparently failed to see the oncoming car driven by James Gould, 18, of Belfast. Gould was not charged.

Tracy was taken by ambulance to Waldo County General Hospital for initial treatment and then transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center.
