MEDWAY – Anyone dreaming of millions of dollars spilling all over the roadway, ripe for the taking, when a Brinks Inc. truck gets suddenly upended would have been disappointed by the rollover on Interstate 95 on Tuesday.
“Money got [spilled], but it all stayed in the truck,” Maine State Police Trooper Barry Meserve said.
The truck was headed north from the security company’s Bangor office at about 8:40 a.m. when driver Robert Gauvreau, 41, of Turner was briefly distracted and lost control of the vehicle near the Medway rest area, Meserve said.
Gauvreau will not be cited for the accident.
When firefighters arrived, they found the truck on its side, with transmission fluid and motor oil leaking from the engine compartment, East Millinocket Fire Chief Les Brown said.
Passenger Jamison Welch, 22, suffered a cut to his head, Meserve said. He was treated and then released from Millinocket Regional Hospital in Millinocket.
The truck hit a Maine Department of Transportation sign before it came to rest, Meserve said. The truck was towed back to Bangor.
