DEXTER – Josh and Ronnie Harvey of Dexter will compete Saturday in the finals of the Northeast Regional Boxing Championships to be held at the Stevens Ave. Armory in Portland.

Josh Harvey, a 17-year-old senior at Dexter Regional High School, will compete in the welterweight (152-pound) division, while Ronnie, a 16-year-old junior, will compete in the lightweight (132-pound) class.

Each advanced through preliminary-round competition held Oct. 13 and Oct. 20 in Portland.

Both Harveys are competing in the novice division, for boxers with 10 or fewer fights. Fighting out of O.B.’s Boxing Club in Dexter, Josh Harvey has a 6-3 record, while Ronnie is 4-2.

Josh and Ronnie Harvey also are successful wrestlers for Dexter High. Josh won the state Class C 152-pound championship last winter, while Ronnie finished second at 125 pounds.

The Northeast Regional Boxing Championships are being promoted by Bobby Russo and the Portland Boxing Club.
