PORTLAND – The Portland Sea Dogs, in conjunction with the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, have concluded the 2007 “TD Banknorth Strike Out Cancer In Kids” fundraising campaing with a total of $337,796.18.

That amount was based on Sea Dogs’ pitchers recording a team-record 1,080 strikeouts during the season. TD Banknorth donated $10 per strikeout, and a team of volunteers solicited donations from individuals and businesses per strikeout to add to the record total for the effort, which has been held each year since 1995.

The contributions through the program have helped make the Maine Children’s Cancer Program at Maine Medical Center in Portland one of the premier children’s cancer treatment centers in the nation.
