Peace through Interamerican Community Action is hosting its 21st PICA annual benefit auction 2:30-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the College Center at University College of Bangor, 210 Texas Ave.
Ellen Gray and Jon Falk invite you to shop, participate in the auction and lend your support to those working “for social justice in Maine and in El Salvador,” they wrote.
Admission for the silent and live auction is $2, and you will enjoy free refreshments and live music with Brian Dyer-Stewart and be able to purchase Salvadoran Smoothies and bean burritos.
Auction items include those donated by local artisans and business owners, ranging from sweatshop-free clothing to plants, artwork, pottery, food and gift certificates.

The cost for the traditional Thanksgiving meal, with ingredients from local farmers, is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12, “income-eligible folks and seniors over 60,” Jamison wrote.
Dessert, she explained, is finding “your favorite pie amidst all the pies entered” in the second annual pie-baking contest.
Open to all, Jamison explained “Unity Barn Raisers is a nonprofit organization … that works, proactively, to enhance small-town character and rural environment.”
Calais High School band director Alison Brennan wrote that CHS band members and the Calais Music Boosters “are honored to be hosting the District VI honors music festival,” concluding with a concert at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the CHS gym.
