Two teenagers from Cushing were injured Sunday afternoon when the all-terrain vehicle they were riding on flipped end over end.
Both the 17-year-old male and 15-year-old female were wearing helmets during the crash that occurred around 4 p.m., Game Warden Durward Humphrey said Sunday just after leaving the hospital.
The pair were taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield where the male driver was being treated for an apparent broken collarbone. The female had bumps and bruises but was otherwise uninjured.
Excessive speed was a factor in the crash, Humphrey said. The pair hit a series of bumps on the old railroad tracks, which have been converted into an ATV trail, and overturned, he said.
The crash happened near Camp Benson Road. The teens were riding their ATV in a group of eight, all from the Cushing area.
