Four people escaped injury Monday night when a Corinth woman estimated to be driving nearly twice the speed limit rolled her 1997 four-door Ford sedan on the Church Road in Bangor.

The driver, Deidre M. Poor, 19, was summoned Tuesday for criminal speeding in a 40-mph zone. An accident reconstructionist estimated her speed at 79 mph, according to police.

Poor initially told Bangor police that she went off the road about 10:15 p.m. Monday at a curve near Skyline Drive when she tried to avoid a deer.

The next day, Poor reportedly admitted she had been speeding and lost control of the car.

She is scheduled to appear Dec. 20 in 3rd District Court in Bangor. (Judy Harrison, BDN)
