AUGUSTA – Maine National Guard employees have repainted a Vietnam-era UH-1 “Huey” helicopter and will hold a ceremony for the vintage static display on Veterans Day.

The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at Camp Keyes, and will feature speeches from Maj. Gen. John “Bill” Libby, the Guard’s adjutant general, and Chief Warrant Officer Stephen Buzzell, a Vietnam helicopter pilot.

The helicopter has been on display at Camp Keyes since 1999 and Guard members began repainting the 40-year-old aircraft in the spring. The Huey recently was mounted on a 20-foot pedestal at the gate, near the Maine Military Historical Society Museum.
