Area Veterans Day events planned

BANGOR-BREWER – Veterans Day Parade, 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, beginning at Brewer Shopping Center, Wilson Street, across Joshua Chamberlain Bridge to Bangor, down Main Street to ceremonies at reviewing stand in West Market Square, up State Street, right on Exchange Street to disband. Parade forms at 9:45 a.m. in Brewer. Buses are available for veterans who need to ride in parade. Veterans may park at Brewer Shopping Center or at TD Banknorth lot on Exchange Street in Bangor and take buses 9:30-9:45 a.m. to Brewer.

BANGOR – Veterans Day activities, Monday, Nov. 12, Cole Land Transportation Museum, 405 Perry Road. Presentation of awards to schoolchildren in the museum essay contest, “What Freedom Means to Me After Interviewing a Veteran,” 1 p.m.; concert of patriotic music by Bangor Band, 2 p.m. Free.

CARMEL – Dedication ceremony for memorial benches from Cole Land Transportation Museum, 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, Veterans Memorial Park, near municipal building. Hermon High School Junior ROTC and Hermon High School Band. Refreshments with American Legion Post 107 Auxiliary afterward at fire station.

TOGUS – Veterans Day Observance at Togus VA Medical Center on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11. The observance, which commences at 8 a.m. at the Flag Pole Commons area in front of Building 200 (Main Hospital), will include presenting of the colors, remarks, invocation-benedictions, pledge of allegiance, placing of wreath and an honor guard salute with taps.

WINTERPORT – American Argonne Post 138 will conduct a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in front of Winterport Library on Main Street. Activities will include laying of a memorial wreath, a brief speech by Comrade James Foley and a 21-gun salute. All are welcome.
