Having trapped us in the quagmire of the Iraq war, the lying Bush-Cheney cabal now plans another invasion – in Iran. As before when they lied us into Iraq, they fabricate the specter of mushroom clouds if we fail to attack another nation which has neither threatened nor attacked us. The question appears not if, but when they go to war.

The plan is illegal, immoral, repugnant to most Americans and our allies, and is patently stupid.

It is clear to most experts that Iran is at least five years from developing nuclear weapons. Unlike Iraq, which had no weapons and virtually no military, Iran has a million well-armed soldiers and the means to resist our aggression. Our troops in Iraq will be imperiled by Iranian attack and Iranian support of Iraqi Shiites, Persian Gulf oil flow will close down, we will further alienate the nations of the Arab world and our European allies, our military is already stretched too thin, we will continue the senseless killing and maiming of innocent civilians and our own military, and exacerbate the furor of citizens of this country and the world.

This administration’s deceit, arrogance and ignorance have caused the needless death of almost 4,000 of our military and an estimated one million Iraqi civilians, and the displacement of several million more. This is all in our name, and we must mobilize to force the government to stop.

Please contact your representatives and senators demanding an end to the war in Iraq. Tell them we will not tolerate another pre-emptive invasion. Demand the troops be brought home. Demand they respond to the will of the people and stop funding this war and that they repulse the Bush administration’s plans to attack Iran.
