Holidazed?

Your family is expecting a bang-up meal on turkey day, and the best you can do is boil water. What’s a harried host to do? Call Montes International Catering in Bangor. Carmen and Arturo Montes have saved the day for countless Maine families with their intriguing offerings. Try Pumpkin Saffron Soup, Mini Baked Brie, Seared Lamb Chops, Roasted Stuffed Cornish Hens, Beef Wellington or Slow-Roasted Gingered Duckling. Nobody will even miss the turkey. For information or a menu, call 945-3990 or visit www.montesinternational.com. Note, Nov. 18 is the deadline for Thanksgiving orders.

Game day

Get your game on – or in (your belly, that is) at Cleonice’s annual game dinner, which begins at 6 p.m. Sunday at Alamoosook Lakeside Inn in Orland. Rich Hanson, chef at the popular Ellsworth bistro, will bring his skills on the road with a menu that includes Pheasant Confit, Elk Carpaccio and Venison Osso Buco. Each course will be paired with selections from Doug Watts and Cat Oster of SoPo Wine Co. Dinner costs $79 per person. To reserve tickets, call Cleonice at 664-7554.

Turkey – and then some

The Queen City is just full of options for would-be gourmets on Thanksgiving. From noon to 5 p.m. next Thursday, chef Roger Gelis of Opus will offer a veritable feast. Among the offerings are Maine Lobster Bisque or Simple Greens with Champagne Vinaigrette, Family-Style Roasted Turkey with Sausage Cornbread Dressing or Rosemary, Focaccia and Granny Smith Apple Dressing, Cranberry Orange Relish, Chive Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Sweet Potato Au Gratin with Walnuts, a M?lange of Fall Vegetables, Haricots Verts with Crispy Onions and a dessert buffet. You can even take home leftovers – just like home, without the dishwashing, slaving over a hot stove or days of planning. The meal costs $32 per person, $15 for children under 12 and free for children under 6. For information or reservations, call 945-5100.
