Building products expansion
HOLDEN – Chris Rhoades, founder and CEO of Rhoades Building Products, has announced the acquisition of Granville Lumber in a move that will form a five-location, 80-employee lumber and building supply company in Washington, Hancock and Penobscot counties.
“I’m excited about our newest project,” stated Rhoades, CEO of Rhoades Building Products, “I like to tell people that I fell in love twice. Once with my wife and once with the state of Maine. I’m glad to be here. I’m glad to be raising my family here. And I’m glad to be a part of the future prosperity of this region.”
“This is a quality company. These people have been doing a tremendous job with their operations in Machias, Milbridge and Ellsworth,” said Gov. John Baldacci. “I look forward to their continued success as they expand into Penobscot County.”
The deal, finalized November 6, combines Granville Lumber, newly opened Rhoades Building Products in Ellsworth, and H.F. Pinkham into a single company, Rhoades Building Products. The company has locations in Holden, Blue Hill, Ellsworth, Milbridge and Machias.
The new company will carry on the commitment to excellence and serving the professional builder, homeowner and commercial contractor.
More flights at BIA
BANGOR – Delta Airlines has expanded its service from Bangor to Boston with two additional flights daily starting on Nov. 4. The two new flights will depart Bangor at 5:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Delta will continue its four current Bangor to Boston flights along with service to Cincinnati and Atlanta.
“The importance of additional air service for Bangor cannot be overstated,” said Bangor Councilor and Transportation Infrastructure Chairman Gerry Palmer. “The airport’s impact on the regional economy is tremendous. The airport is essential to our transportation infrastructure and the more service we have, the stronger that infrastructure becomes for our economic vitality.”
Bangor International Airport is a full-service regional airport offering non-stop flights to Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Detroit, New York’s LaGuardia Airport, Newark, Orlando, Philadelphia and seasonal flights to Minneapolis. The airport is an enterprise-funded entity operated by the city and is supported solely through airport generated revenue.
