BANGOR – A new ambulance designed and equipped exclusively for critically ill infants will be on public view at 1:30 p.m. Friday outside the Webber Building at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Hundreds of babies are cared for in EMMC’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit each year, and many of them require specialized transportation, according to the hospital. The ambulance will be used to transport babies from throughout the nine-county EMMC service area who are either born early or with medical conditions that warrant intensive care.

It was bought with money raised by the Children’s Miracle Network of Healthcare Charities and its partnership with local Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores.
