Man finds pornographic material on his doorstep

A father who went out to get the morning paper Wednesday in a Third Street neighborhood discovered a box addressed to his 13-year-old daughter that contained pornographic materials.

The box was found around 9:30 a.m. and contained pornographic articles, including one video and adult toys, Bangor police Sgt. Jim Buckley said. The police took the items into evidence. There were no suspects as of Wednesday afternoon, but the case remained under investigation, Buckley said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

A Bangor man told Bangor police that he was on the Kenduskeag Stream footbridge just before 3 a.m. Wednesday when two men who wanted money approached him. When he refused, he was stabbed in the arm and leg, according to the police report.

The 24-year-old victim was able to walk to a pay phone to call police, then went home to await an ambulance, which took him to Eastern Maine Medical Center. His injuries were described as minor, said Bangor police Sgt. Jim Buckley. The case has been referred to the criminal investigation division, but there were no suspects as of Wednesday afternoon, he said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
