HOLDEN – The SAD 63 board meeting scheduled for today has been postponed.

The meeting had been planned to discuss a certified letter issued last week that warned five of the eight board members that Superintendent Louise Regan plans to sue them.

According to Bruce Smith, the board’s attorney, all eight members could not be present at the meeting so it was postponed.

“It looks like it’s not going to be until [Nov.] 26th,” he said. “Just to make sure everyone could be present. There was an issue about some board members who couldn’t make it.”

Today’s meeting had been called when the five members warned of the lawsuit signed a form requesting the session.

Board member Robert Kaih is out of town but was able to sign the form and fax it to the district to call the meeting even though he was not able to attend. Smith said he was not sure who else would not have been able to attend the meeting. Without at least five members, there is no quorum.

Regan has said she plans to sue board members Therese Anderson, Karen Clark, Linda Goodrich, Kiah and Dion Seymour for allowing Seymour to read a letter of concern at an October public meeting. The letter accused Regan of lying to members of the board about Seymour’s action, which he claimed “maligned” him and his integrity.

The next regularly scheduled SAD 63 meeting will be Nov. 26. No time for the closed-door meeting on the issue has yet been set.
