BANGOR – As the holiday season approaches, Bangor International Airport is advising air travelers to plan ahead.

The Transportation Security Administration and BIA have asked airline passengers to report to ticket counters 90 minutes before a flight’s scheduled departure.

Passengers who miss their scheduled flights will have a hard time finding available seats on subsequent flights, according to a news release Friday.

Robert Dyer, TSA’s federal security director in Maine, reminded passengers to use the “3-1-1” policy for liquids and gels. A passenger can carry on board one container filled with 3 ounces or less of liquid, gel or aerosol that can fit in one quart-size zip-top plastic bag.

Dyer also advised passengers to travel with unwrapped gifts. He said passengers must remove metal from clothing and shoes must be taken off during inspections.
