BANGOR – A woman who was driving drunk and speeding down Essex Street early Saturday morning was summoned after she flipped the car, injuring her passenger.

Pamela Hicks, 43, of Bangor was speeding south on Essex between Somerset and Penobscot streets at 1:30 a.m. when she hit a patch of sand and rolled her 1997 Saturn car over onto its roof, according to police files. The car was demolished.

Hicks’ passenger, Douglas Doucette, 40, of Bangor, was taken to a Bangor hospital with minor injuries.

Hicks’ blood-alcohol content was recorded at 0.15, according to police files. The speed limit on that part of Essex Street is 25 mph.

Hicks was summoned for operating under the influence and driving to endanger. Her court date was set for Dec. 20. (Toni-Lynn Robbins, BDN)
