University of Southern Maine senior Curtis Wheeler led a crew of Maine runners at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Minnesota over the weekend.
Wheeler finished 43rd among 280 runners Saturday at the meet hosted by St. Olaf College, completing the 8-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 19 seconds.
Bates College senior Matt Dunlap, a former Mt. Blue of Farmington runner, placed 105th in 25:51 while brothers Joey DeWitt and Steven DeWitt of Ellsworth, and UMass Lowell, both dropped out due to heat exhaustion.
New York University won the team championship.
