AUGUSTA – Maj. Gregory Sanborn of Sidney has been named acting colonel of the Maine Warden Service.

The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife announced that Sanborn is filling the post vacated by Col. Tom Santaguida, who stepped down this month after being cited for a lobster law violation.

Sanborn will oversee nearly 125 officers involved in enforcement of fish and game laws and search and rescue operations.

He will remain in the post while Commissioner Roland Martin seeks a permanent replacement for Santaguida.
