Gold’s Gym on Odlin Road in Bangor recently hired David Gonyar as its new general manager. A former athlete at Orono High School and the University of Maine, he was a longtime teacher and coach at Bucksport High School. From there, he moved to Wight’s Sporting Goods in Bangor, where he was responsible for acquiring a new range of corporate clients. Most recently, he served as the athletic director at Old Town High School. “My very first membership to Gold’s was in 1986, when they gave memberships to UMO’s team captains,” Gonyar recalled. “So around baseball, I would work out and play some racquetball here. I have enjoyed the facility ever since and am very excited to be here with a great staff and with many familiar faces in this area.”
