STANDISH – Carolyn Freeman totaled 19 points, three steals and three assists Sunday to lead Saint Joseph’s College to an 85-31 women’s basketball victory over the University of Maine-Machias.
Alysn Ludwig had 11 points and six assists for the Monks and Megan Farrell had 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Meghan Daigle had 10 rebounds, eight points and five assists and Allison Miner scored 10 points.
Angela Moody paced UM-Machias with 13 points.

At Milwaukee, Lindsay Allman had 19 kills and 20 digs Saturday to lead the University of Maine past South Dakota State 30-24, 16-30, 30-21, 23-30, 15-8 in the consolation match of the Battle for the Bird.
Jessica Wolfenden had 55 assists and 15 digs in the final match of the season for the 4-23 Black Bears. Laura Goettsch added 18 digs and 11 kills and Ashlee Wright had 18 digs. Margaret Page recorded 14 kills and Amanda Armstrong had 12 kills.
Samantha Pearson led 25-9 South Dakota State with 19 digs and Kristina Martin had 14 kills and 15 digs. Mackenzie Angner added 16 kills and 11 digs.
Women’s hockey
Maine 0, Vermont 0 (OT)
At Burlington, Vt., University of Maine goalie Genevieve Turgeon and Vermont’s Kristen Olychuck didn’t allow a goal through regulation and overtime Saturday as the teams battled to a scoreless Hockey East tie.
Turgeon stopped all 23 shots for 1-12-2 Maine, which is 0-4-2 in Hockey East.
Olychuck made 21 saves for 4-7-1 Vermont, 0-2-1 in Hockey East.

At Boston, sophomore Terrell Maddox scored a career-high 24 points Saturday to lead the University of Massachusetts Boston past the University of Maine-Fort Kent in the consolation game of the 23rd annual Harbor Invitational.
Ernst Jean scored 11 points for UMass Boston and Amigo Paniagua added 10 points.
Edmundas Akstinas led UM-Fort Kent with 23 points. Jimmy Lopes scored 12 points and Gediminas Sumyla had 10 points.
