Thank you for the editorial “Pension Fairness” (BDN, Nov. 20). The injustice it describes affects me; I receive one-fourth of the Social Security benefits I have earned. I have paid into the system since 1957. If I received my real Social Security benefits, I would be spending more money in Maine on books, outdoor gear, in-state travel, alternative health care and donations to various charities and good causes. Thus the pension offset not only harms individuals but the state economy as well.
